Spring Tryout Information

2026 Schedule
  • Anticipated size of Spring team: 55 total (rowers and coxswains)
  • Location: The fieldhouse in the football stadium.
  • Wear athletic clothes, but not long baggy shorts.  Those can interfere with the seat rollers on the rowing machine.
  • Three different “pieces” on the ergometer (rowing machine)
    • February 24 (4:30 PM): 2000 meters
    • February 25 (4:30 PM): 500 meters and 1 minute
    • February 26 (7:00 AM): makeup day

  • March 5 - 6 - Boat Rigging and Inspection (@ Reservoir Park)
  • March 6, 7:00pm - Swim Test (Required: @Ida Lee Rec Center Pool) 
  • March 7, 10:00am -  Ergathon (@ the Fieldhouse)
  • March 21 - Water Practice / Alford Farm Clean-up and Prep
  • March 28 - Walter Mess Regatta, Occoquan
  • March 30 - April 3 - Spring Training
  • April 11 - Ted Phoenix Regatta
  • April 18 - Ryz Ob Regatta
  • April 25 – Al Urquia Regatta
  • May 2 – VSRC Day 1 (Lower Boats)
  • May 9 – VSRC Day 2 (Upper Boats)
  • May 15-16 – Stotesbury Cup, Philadelphia (travel regatta*)​
  • May 27 - Team Banquet
  • May 30 - Fun Row 
* Additional fees collected for travel regattas
